At St Mary’s School, Gerrards Cross, we believe every child should have the opportunity to achieve more than they thought possible.
We are an ambitious, nurturing and forward-thinking independent school where pupils are known as individuals, supported to grow in confidence and challenged to achieve their personal best. From Nursery through to Sixth Form, we combine high academic expectations with exceptional pastoral care and a wealth of opportunities beyond the classroom.

Academic ambition with individual support
We are proud of our strong academic record and, importantly, the progress our pupils make during their time with us.
In our Prep School, benchmarking shows that children achieve above national averages, with more than 70% of our Year 6 cohort going on to achieve 11+ success or scholarships to leading senior schools.
Our Senior School results are equally impressive. In 2026, 45% of GCSE grades were awarded at 9–7, with more than 70% at grades 9–6. At A Level, half of all grades were A or A*, with 76% awarded at A–B*.
Behind those results is an education tailored to the individual. Our teachers know their pupils well, recognise their strengths and understand when they need additional support or greater challenge. We don’t believe success should be measured simply by comparison with others, but by how far each individual can go.
Developing the whole child
Academic success is only part of a St Mary’s education.
Our pupils have opportunities to discover what excites them through sport, music, drama, creative arts, leadership, trips, clubs and enrichment. Whether performing on stage, representing the school in sport, discovering a new interest or taking on a position of responsibility, we encourage every pupil to get involved and find the things that make them thrive.
Character education is deliberately woven through school life. Our TAKE CARE values encourage pupils to become Team players, Adventurous, Kind, Enthusiastic, Curious, Ambitious, Resilient and Excellent.

A new chapter for St Mary’s
St Mary’s has been educating young people in Gerrards Cross for more than 150 years, and we are now entering an exciting new chapter.
From 2027, St Mary’s will become co-educational, welcoming boys alongside girls while retaining everything families value about the school: high academic standards, outstanding pastoral care, individual attention and a strong sense of community.
Our commitment remains the same – to recognise the potential in every child and give them the support, challenge and opportunities to achieve their aspirational best.
