We understand that every student is unique, with individual interests, strengths, and goals. Our UCAS coordinator works closely with each student to provide personalised guidance tailored to her specific needs and aspirations. Each student will receive recommendations for suitable courses and universities based on individual preferences and academic achievements.
Careers and Higher Education
Girls at St Mary’s School, Gerrards Cross, benefit from bespoke one–to–one careers support from our dedicated Higher Education Coordinator as they navigate their journey towards higher education. Our commitment to helping each student achieve her individual academic and career aspirations is an essential part of our Sixth Form experience.
Our Approach
Whether students are considering traditional universities, art schools, degree apprenticeship schemes, or other specialised universities, we have the expertise to offer tailored advice. With guidance about applications, choices, and writing personal statements students are supported every step of the way.
Those considering applications to Oxbridge and those applying to competitive courses such Dentistry, Medicine and Veterinary Science follow a unique and speciailised pathway including interview coaching with subject specialists.
Personal Statement guidance at St Mary’s offers comprehensive support in crafting a compelling and unique personal statement including identifying what to include to ensure each application stands out against others. Through thorough review and feedback every statement showcases each individual’s strengths and aspirations.
Students receive tailored preparation for admissions tests (e.g., UK Clinical Aptitude Test, LNAT, BMAT, etc.). Throughout their time in Year 11 and into Sixth Form, students enjoy mock interview sessions and feedback to help them excel in interview scenarios.
Many of the applications from our students require slightly different paperwork or processes. Students receive continuous support throughout the application process including assistance with any additional paperwork or requirements.
All our Year 13 students gain admission to their dream universities and go on to pursue fulfilling next steps. Our school’s UCAS support has a proven track record of helping students achieve their goals. Most of our students move on to Russell Group universities, some opt to study as far afield as Canada and Korea, whilst others apply for apprenticeships, take a gap year or train in the arts at specialist colleges.
