The SMA is the Parent Teacher Committee Association of St Mary’s. It was founded to strengthen our community and enhance the educational experience of our girls. We are committed to supporting the school’s growth through fundraising efforts that enhance facilities, support educational programs, and create opportunities that enrich learning. We remain dedicated to building on our achievements. Together, we aspire to foster a vibrant community that supports every girl’s growth and development at St Mary’s.

The SMA - Be Involved

Over the past 15 years, the SMA has proudly raised £200,000, making significant contributions such as:

– £15,000 towards the Wellbeing Pod

– £14,000 towards gym equipment

– £43,000 towards the Sixth Form building

– £12,800 towards the Prep outside classroom.

How you can get involved?

We invite you to become an active part of the SMA. There are many ways to get involved:

– Join the SMA committee: Committee members are involved in planning and organising events and fundraising initiatives and making decisions on how money is spent.

– Become and SMA volunteer: volunteers join a what’s app group we can call on when help is needed for running events.

– Become a class representative: Class reps act as a link between the School, the SMA and parents of the year group, assisting in events and initiatives, distributing information and arranging social activities for families in the year group – we are currently looking for a Year 10 class rep.

– Contribute through donations or raffles prizes: do you run a business that might want to donate any items or services that could be used as raffle prizes? This is always a great way to raise funds for the school.

– Matched funding; find out if the company you work for take part in matched funding schemes. If they do, any way that you help to raise money for a specific event could be doubled.

– Do you have a skill that would be helpful to the SMA?: graphic design, publishing, photography? Offer your services.

– Easyfundraising: we invite you to use EasyFundraising, an effortless year-round initiative allowing parents and staff to contribute seamlessly to our fundraising goals while making routine online purchases. SMA Summer Fête – 4 September 2026

After being postponed from June due to the extreme heatwave, the SMA Summer Fête finally took place on 4 September, and fortunately the weather held up for us, allowing everyone to make the most of the afternoon.

There was something for everyone, with a fantastic variety of activities, games and stalls. Children enjoyed jewellery making, glitter tattoos, hair colouring, Hook a Duck, the photo booth, Henna, and table tennis with Mr Fox. The assault course was a particular highlight and proved to be one of the most popular activities of the day!

Families could also browse a lovely selection of market and craft stalls, with plenty of food and treats available, including pizza, burgers, ice cream, candy floss, cakes, samosas and pick ‘n’ mix sweets.

The fête was the result of months of planning and preparation by SMA and our parent volunteers, who generously gave their time to make the event possible. Volunteers also worked incredibly hard on the day, from setting up and running activities to packing everything away afterwards. It was a fantastic team effort and a huge amount of work.

A huge thank you goes to SMA, all our parent volunteers, stallholders and everyone who contributed, as well as to the families who came along and supported the event. It was wonderful to see the school community come together and enjoy such a successful afternoon.
