Introducing the Positivity Tree: Celebrating What Truly Matters
This term, our Prep School is proud to launch an inspiring new initiative designed to celebrate kindness, integrity and personal growth: the Positivi-tree.
The Positivity Tree is a pupil-led celebration of positive choices, thoughtful actions and personal achievements. Created to help our girls recognise the good in themselves and others, it encourages them to take pride in their efforts and reflect on the impact their actions have within our school community. At its heart, the Positivity Tree is about noticing what truly matters.
How the Positivity Tree Works
Each week, pupils are invited to nominate themselves or others for actions that go beyond what is simply expected. These might include a thoughtful act of kindness, showing genuine gratitude, demonstrating integrity by following school rules without prompting, or sharing an achievement in a way that celebrates effort rather than competition.
Nominations are carefully written to explain what happened and why it mattered, encouraging reflection and meaningful recognition. The Head Girl Team reviews the nominations weekly and selects two to be celebrated. These are shared during assembly, where leaves are added to the Positivity Tree, a growing visual reminder of the values we live by as a school community.
Why It Matters
In a world where young people are increasingly exposed to comparison, pressure and external validation, it is more important than ever for girls to learn to value character, kindness, honesty and quiet confidence.
The Positivity Tree helps pupils to:
- Recognise that everyday positive actions have power
- Celebrate success without gloating
- Take pride in personal growth, not just outcomes
- Appreciate others without favouritism or popularity
- Reflect on positive actions during more challenging moments
By focusing on specific, authentic examples of positive behaviour, the initiative teaches girls how to articulate why actions are meaningful, how to be proud of themselves in a healthy way, and how to celebrate others sincerely.

This initiative plays a vital role in supporting the personal development of our girls. Encouraging them to speak confidently about their achievements while also valuing empathy and integrity helps to build strong self-worth and emotional intelligence, qualities that will support them far beyond their Prep School years.
The Positivity Tree is more than a display. It represents a shared commitment to nurturing a culture where kindness is noticed, effort is valued, and every girl feels seen.
