An Unforgettable Evening of Music Marks a Special Farewell

On Tuesday evening, Senior House hosted their annual Spring Concert, which this year also featured performers from the Prep Department. Younger students joined both the Guitar Ensemble and the Prep Chamber Choir, adding to the evening’s rich and varied programme.

The concert showcased a number of outstanding solo performances from Lucy, Grace, Preet and Daya (Year 7); Cataleya, Hana and Ella (Year 8); Hattie and Lucia (Year 9); Caitlin and Ailie (Year 10); Madison and Seony (Year 11); Kanak (Year 12); and Amelie (Year 13).

The Year 7 and 8 Band impressed the audience with lively covers of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door and Dancing Queen. One of the evening’s most memorable moments came from the Senior Orchestra’s performance of The Blue Danube, which featured guest percussionists recruited from the audience. The orchestra later joined forces with the Senior Choir, Year 13 soloists and Elsa on saxophone for a stirring rendition of Careless Whisper, enhanced by Sophia’s beautifully choreographed solo dance, which added to the song’s atmosphere.

The concert was particularly special as it marked Mrs Phillips’ final concert before her retirement. The evening ended on a celebratory note—quite literally—with a burst of confetti cannons during the Senior Choir’s energetic performance of Girls Just Wanna Dance.

Congratulations to all the performers and to the Music Department for delivering another thoroughly enjoyable evening of music-making.
