A BUCKS school’s elite gymnastic team has taken silver at a major national competition, beating dozens of state and independent rivals along the way, and cementing its position as a centre of excellence for the sport.

St Mary’s School’s U11 gymnastics team finished second nationally at the Milano Finals gym competition, the school’s best-ever result at the prominent national contest.

Competing against schools from across the UK, the team delivered a standout performance, reflecting their dedication and expert coaching. The squad had earlier been crowned BSGA Milano Floor and Vault champions, securing their place at these national finals.

Head of Gymnastics Georgia Connell said: “The team’s performance at the Milano National Finals was outstanding and a testament to their hard work throughout the season. Achieving a national silver medal against schools from across the UK highlights the strength of the programme at St Mary’s. We are excited to welcome future gymnasts who share the same passion and commitment to the sport.”

St Mary’s is fast establishing itself as a centre for excellence in girls’ gymnastics and recently announced the launch of its scholarship programme for talented gymnasts for girls entering Year 3 in 2026 and Year 7 in 2027, offering up to 10% off fees, structured training, and access to bespoke coaching.

Headmaster Lars Fox added: “We are immensely proud of our gymnasts and their remarkable achievements. Finishing second nationally in this prestigious competition is a phenomenal result and just reward for the growing strength of our elite gymnastics programme and the dedication of our pupils. These new scholarships will allow us to support even more talented young gymnasts as they develop both academically and athletically.”
