Supporting Our GCSE Students Every Step of the Way
Year 11 students have made an impressive start to the term, demonstrating exceptional dedication as they prepare for the crucial months ahead. Staff have been particularly encouraged by their resilience, focus and maturity.
The term began positively with the return of Wayne Dixon, who delivered his highly regarded Exam Attack sessions. These workshops equipped students with practical revision strategies, alongside valuable guidance on maintaining motivation and building confidence ahead of their exams.
A highlight of the term came on Tuesday 10 March, when students took part in a wellbeing session led by WellNest. Designed to support students during the exam period, the session introduced guided meditation, breathing exercises and grounding techniques to help manage stress and improve focus.
The Sports Hall was transformed into a calm, immersive space, enhanced by soft lighting and gentle aromatherapy. This created a peaceful environment where students were able to fully relax, engage and take time to reset. The session provided a valuable opportunity for students to prioritise their wellbeing alongside their academic preparation, and we are extremely grateful to the WellNest team for delivering such a thoughtful and impactful experience.
Alongside these events, students continue to benefit from a comprehensive programme of academic support. Weekly exam practice sessions, led by Mrs McNally every Tuesday from 4.00–6.00pm, are complemented by a wide range of subject clinics and tailored intervention sessions to support individual needs.
It has been particularly pleasing to see how positively students are engaging with these opportunities. Year 11 are showing a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, making the most of the support available as they work towards their goals.
Looking ahead, preparations are already underway for the next stage of their academic journey, with A Level choices being finalised and timetables beginning to take shape.
