Scholarships at St Mary’s aim to nurture and recognise exceptional talent. Our scholars play a key role in the life of St Mary’s – they excel in their subject, embrace the opportunities the specialist programme presents and act as role models for their peers.
Each year, St Mary’s School awards a number of scholarships at Year 7 and Year 12 entry in the following subjects:
- Academic
- Art
- Drama
- Music
- Sport
- Year 12 Excellence Awards
The application process celebrates the achievements, aspirations, and skills of each individual. Successful scholars benefit from a comprehensive scholarship programme tailored to their subject, which may include workshops, trips, masterclasses, leadership opportunities, conferences, competitions and more, along with a fee remission of 5–10%. In addition, a means-tested Bursary may also be awarded. Honorary Scholarships, which provide access to the tailored scholarship programme without fee remission, will also be awarded to talented pupils. Scholarships offered to pupils joining in Year 7 are usually held until the end of Year 11 provided that the students continue to meet all that is expected of a scholar.
Year 12 Excellence Awards – 50% Scholarship
Two scholarships are available for girls entering Year 12, based on GCSE mock exam performance in Years 10 and 11:
1. Excellence Award
- For one girl with an average score of 8 across all Year 10 and 11 mock exams.
2. STEM Excellence Award

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Head and Deputy Head (Academic) to determine who will receive these two exceptional scholarships.
